Last updated 01/11/2026. Tablewright turns a table on your Confluence page, an attached data file or a small pasted dataset into a filtered, pivoted, interactive table or chart, all inside one macro.

Install
- A Confluence administrator opens Apps → Explore more apps in Confluence Cloud.
- Search for Tablewright and choose Get it now (or start the free trial).
- Accept the permissions: Tablewright only asks to read pages and attachments.
- When the install finishes, the macro is available to everyone on the site.
Set up a macro
- Open a Confluence page in edit mode.
- Type
/tablewright(or search the insert menu for Tablewright) and insert the macro. - The editor opens. Work through the four steps, Source → Filters → Pivot → Display, using Next and Back or the numbered tabs. The live preview updates as you go.
- Click Save in the editor, then Publish the page.
- Everyone who can view the page now sees the finished table or chart.
You can add as many Tablewright macros to a page as you like. Each one has its own source and settings.
Step 1: pick a data source
- A table on this page. Pick any table on the current page. It stays live: when someone edits the table and publishes, the macro shows the new data on the next view. Status lozenges, mentions, dates, Jira work item links, images, links, emoji and action items show the way they do on the page, and filter, sort and export by their text.
- An attached file. CSV or TSV (first row is the header) or JSON (an array of flat objects), up to 4 MB. Upload a new version of the file and the macro updates on the next view.
- Pasted data. Paste up to 200 rows, for example cells copied from a spreadsheet.
Tablewright detects each column as text, number or date automatically. Change one in this step if it guessed wrong. Dates use DD/MM/YYYY.
Step 2: saved filters
Filters you add here are saved with the macro and apply for every reader. A row must pass all of them.
- Text: keep rows where a column contains or equals your text.
- Pick-list: tick the values to keep.
- Number range and date range: either end can be left open.
- Global search: keep rows where any column contains your text.
Step 3: pivot (optional)
- Turn the pivot on.
- Choose Group by, the column whose values become rows.
- Optionally choose Split by, a column whose values become extra columns.
- Choose the value column and a function: Sum, Count, Count distinct, Average, Min, Max or Median.
- Turn on Totals if you want a totals row (and column).
Step 4: display
Choose Table, Chart or Chart + table. Charts can be column, bar, stacked bar, line, area, pie, donut or KPI cards. Pick the columns for the axes and series, set a title and turn the legend on or off.
What readers can do
- Sort by clicking a column header (ascending, descending, then back to the page order).
- Filter and search on top of the saved filters.
- Page through long results.
- Export the rows in view as CSV.
Reader changes are temporary and never change what anyone else sees. Reloading returns to the saved view.
Limits
- 10,000 rows per macro (larger sources show the first 10,000 with a note).
- 4 MB per attached CSV, TSV or JSON file.
- 1.5 MB per image inside a table cell.
- 200 rows of pasted data.
- One source per macro. Add more macros for more datasets.
Messages
- Source table not found: the table was removed from the page. Edit the macro and pick the table again.
- File too large: the attachment is over 4 MB. Trim or split it, upload it again and reselect it.
- No permission: you can't view the page or attachment. Ask the page owner for access. Tablewright never widens access.
- Could not read file: the file isn't valid CSV, TSV or JSON. Check it opens cleanly, fix it and upload it again.
- Could not load data: reload the page. If it keeps happening, check the source still exists or contact support.
